XK120 Explored, Original Edition, Sealed

Out of print, only 3 books left in stock!

Original edition of the famed XK120 Explored book by Bernard Viart. Sealed. Brand New.

All types of XK 120 are covered, starting with the aluminum-bodied Open Two Seaters and their wood frames, and moving on to the production steel-bodied Roadsters (early and late types), then the Fixed Head and Drop Head Coupes. The cars are dissected by means of some 2,500 individual drawings in some 413 plates, most in colour, and almost every part, nut, bolt, and washer are shown - and, of vital importance, where they are located on the car.

These books make it far more practical to buy and restore a disassembled or incomplete XK, because Bernard Viart provides these vital visual references to what every part looks like and where it should go, including all the wiring in colour. Even if you won't be restoring an XK 120, this book gives an absolutely unique analysis of how the XK 120 was made and assembled. In addition to the drawings, conventional chapters provide a full description of the car and its production and competition career, plus special bodied examples. The evolution of the XK engine which powered it is also told in detail. All chapters are profusely illustrated with superb period photographs and literature.

XK120 Explored - REVISED REPRINT

Item #XK120EXPLOREDR

Limited Copies Available.

As before, this a Revised Explored XK120. This new edition consists of several thousand individual perspective drawings, mostly in colour and all annotated with part numbers, etc. They are drawn by the talented French XK 120 expert and artist, Bernard Viart (though the book is in English) and they explore every aspect of this famous sports car. The information it contains is vast, and there is nothing else remotely like it on the market. It is especially valuable to restorers or anyone wanting to assess the completeness and correctness of a purchase.

This latest edition contains some entirely new plates, and on-going research has resulted in many of the original ones being revised or enhanced (these are all noted as such in the book). This is mainly due to renowned XK expert and historian Terry McGrath, who worked closely with Bernard Viart to produce the most comprehensive and accurate book they can achieve. The general history sections are not included in this edition. Instead, the emphasis is on the plates and data, augmented by a review of restoring the XK 120 over the years written by Paul Skilleter with input from Terry McGrath.
